Why Receive As exists

A SANY dealer Flyntlok was implementing kept running into trouble receiving SANY parts, especially oil filters. They would order one SANY part number and receive the same part under an entirely different number from another manufacturer. Receive As, on the item dashboard, was built to fix that.

Linking the parts

Receive As creates a parent and child relationship: the SANY part number is the parent, and alternate numbers from other brands are children. Jack edits the Yanmar part, opens Manage Item Information, goes to the Purchasing section and picks the SANY part number in the Receive As field.

Ordering and receiving under SANY

Jack builds a purchase order to SANY for the SANY filter, marks it ordered and creates a receiving voucher. When the Yanmar part comes in, he filters the item column on it and receives it under the SANY part. The Yanmar part keeps its own record, but the quantity rolls up under the SANY number.

Special orders

In the second scenario the Yanmar part itself is ordered, as with a special order. On the receiving voucher it still shows as received as the SANY part number, so quantities roll up to the parent.

Why it matters

No substituting parts, and no worrying whether a filter came in as a Yanmar or Cummins part. Receivers only need the SANY number they usually order, and inventory keeps the same physical part under one part number.
