Happy New Year, Flyntlokers!

Yes, we are still a bit “new feature” light as we finish up our system-performance projects and we continue to work on our AI initiatives. But rest assured, the team is still cranking away!

New Tax Engine Rollout

Flyntlok has been working on updating its sales-tax engine for the past several months, and the complete roll-out of the changes will have significant positive impacts on system performance. We began beta testing this in the late summer and early fall and we’ve been steadily pushing this out to our customers, with about 60% currently on it. Prior to rolling this out to any customer, we have been sending an email to all users notifying them of the upcoming change, along with a suggestion to carefully watch all point-of-sale transactions to ensure taxes are being properly applied. All of the gory details can be reviewed here, and if you haven’t received the update, you will over the course of the next 2-3 weeks. Any questions or concerns, please ping your friendly Flyntlok consultant!

Small Features

Logging Functionality for File Uploads [#78694]

Opportunity

For pages that allow users to upload files, e.g. the work order page, certain actions such as file removal are logged in order to give users access to a record of the activity on that page. These logs included file removal but not file uploading, file upload information was instead displayed next to the file.

Solution

Adding file upload logs allows users to get a complete picture of the changes made on a page by just reviewing the logs.

Resolved Issues

Serial Numbers Missing on Invoices with Multiple Machines [#78726]

Complaint: When printing an invoice from a work order that included multiple machines across separate jobs, the machine serial numbers were not shown on the invoice. This prevented service teams from submitting warranty claims that require serial numbers on a single invoice.

Correction: Fixed.

Zero Pricing on Uploaded Purchase Orders [#78687]

Complaint: Pricing was removed from Purchase Orders after uploading from a spreadsheet. In some cases, prices were initially present but were wiped out after editing fields such as the vendor name or entering a message/note on the PO. This occurred inconsistently, as other uploaded POs retained pricing.

Correction: Fixed.

Serialized Parts Not Attached on Work Order Final Invoice [#78742]

Complaint: Serialized parts were required to have a serial number selected on individual sales orders within a Work Order, but when the Work Order was invoiced, the serial number showed as “None” on the final invoice.

Correction: Updated final invoice creation to correctly assign and carry over serialized units to the invoiced items, ensuring serial numbers display properly on the invoice.

Media Not Uploaded To Shopify [#78484]

Complaint: Users reported media sent to Shopify was not showing on the product.

Correction: Fixed.

Unwanted Increment/Decrement After Scrolling on Number Input [#78490]

Complaint: Users reported errors in their item and machine pricing after unknowingly altering them by scrolling while still clicked in those input boxes.

Correction: Being able to increment or decrement a number input by scrolling is an often helpful, standard functionality provided by most browsers; however it seems to be a source of potential errors. To prevent these errors, we disabled this scrolling behavior on all number input boxes in the machine and item edit pages.

Fix Company Logo Size on Packing Slip [#79389 & #79707]

Complaint: Users reported the company logo on the Packing Slip was sometimes not the right size.

Correction: Fixed.

Labor Cost Lines Not Linked To Job Lines On Warranty Invoices [#79329]

Complaint: When invoicing a Warranty Work Order, users noted that the Warranty Invoice appeared to have 2 copies of each Labor Line.

Correction: Fixed. The Invoice Line representing the Labor Line’s cost will now correctly be linked to its Job’s Invoice Line.

Upcoming Maintenance Emails [#79397 / #79622]

Complaint: Managers reported they were receiving multiple emails a night for upcoming maintenance when they should only be receiving one, resulting in many duplicated emails that cluttered inboxes.

Correction: Fixed. If you have upcoming maintenance, you should only receive one upcoming maintenance email each night as expected.

Reversing And Re-Posting $0 Sales Orders [#79831]

Complaint: Accountants reported that in rare cases, trying to post a Sales Order to QuickBooks would result in it reverting back to draft status.

Correction: Fixed. This would only occur when the Sales Order had a sum of $0 in parts, and had already been posted and then reversed out of QuickBooks beforehand, and has now been resolved.

Searching on Reports [#80386]

Complaint: Managers noticed that searching using the top right search bar on reports would sometimes give a technical error in the report that affected its functionality.

Correction: Fixed.

Saved Layouts on Reports [#80326]

Complaint: Saved layouts were causing some reports to behave in unexpected ways, resulting in issues that were affecting the usefulness of those reports.

Correction: Fixed. Saved layouts should work as expected.

Updating Machine Acquisition Type [#80322]

Complaint: Managers noticed that they were unable to change the acquisition type on their machines despite having the permission enabled that should allow them to do so.

Correction: Fixed.

Avalara Linked Tax Items on Labor Types [#80378]

Complaint: Service techs reported that linked items on Work Order Labor Types were sometimes not transferring their AvaTax code to Invoice detail lines.

Correction: Fixed.

Show Edited Descriptions on Part Purchase Order Printout [#80169]

Complaint: When printing out a parts order, edits made to the descriptions of lines were not shown.

Correction: Fixed.

Reduce Duplicates in Bulk Part Purchase Order Import [#80097]

Complaint: When importing parts purchase orders via the bulk PO importer, users reported multiple copies of the same Item showing in option lists.

Correction: Fixed.

Searching Work Orders by Status [#79833]

Complaint: Managers reported that searching for Work Orders by their status was sometimes not working as expected on the Calendar Scheduler. Specifically, they found that Work Orders in Parts Received status would not show when filtering/searching for Work Orders that status.

Correction: Fixed.

Moves Should Persist Through Machine Merges [#79609]

Complaint: User reported that when merging machines, the move items were being left behind on the deleted machine rather than pulling forward as expected into the target machine.

Correction: Fixed, such that moves are merged as expected along with the other machine field values.

Final Flyntlok Football Fantasy Update

First off, the Boston office is, as you can imagine, pretty excited about the New England Patriots returning to the Super Bowl. It’s been far too long of a drought for this region.

We have had several inquisitive customers ask us for the final results of Fantasy Football League. Well, the nerds were the big winners this year. The top three spots went to software developers: Calvin, Bomby, and Stephen. Stephen is lucky to be on the podium since he essentially rage quit after 3 weeks into the season and his whole team had to be restored. At the other end, poor Isabelle and her Taylor Swift generated team shockingly(!) came in last. But close behind her was JP (who played college football!) and then Ivan (who won it all last year). Now stay tuned for March Madness…
